Creative Comeback and Interferon #2

Ozmozium

Well, I must confess. I called off from work today, but followed the proper procedure. I was going through and Interferon depressive period after skin rash side effect the day before. I went out with my sketchbook and tried to work my way out of this depressive period. Lately the Interferon has diminished my ability to concentrate, so starting the drawings was tough. I simply ignored attention to detail and let the pencil roll where it wanted it too. Then I followed with watercolor pencil. Since the drawings are entirely abstract then so must be the name. This is called ‘Ozmozium’.

The spinyball postcard

spinyball-postcard.jpg Greetings,

I have tweaking and refining the new computer that I have built for 49th birthday. There are three main objectives that I want to carry out with this new machine.

  • A smoother and faster system for my graphic applications including video and 3-D animation
  • Recording my occasional guitar pieces.
  • Using the Internet to do research and communicate with other people.

I also wanted a system that was powerful enough to watch an occasional news clip or listen to music. So far I have accomplished these objectives.

My honeydew in Canada

my-honeydew.jpgThis is a special card that I have made for my sweetiepie in Ontario, Canada. I have recently been drawing a lot calligraphy ornamentation in my pocket sketchbook while at work. Many years ago when ago when I started out my artistic career/hobby I was doing calligraphy. I did well with the lettering aspects and using the ink nibs but I found the finish part of a piece of calligraphy called ornamentation really fascinated me. Now that I use the computer for my creative tool I have been inspired to dress up this photograph with some traditional ornamentation. I hope you enjoy it and I know that my honeydew in Canada will:)

Magnolia bloom

Magnolia bloom This a magnolia bloom I was inspired to sketch in my journal while posted at the hotel. I scanned the original sketch from my Moleskine journal into Photoshop and painted it using a method I call ‘quick concept’ where I quick mask primary parts of the drawing and fill with the base colors I have selected. I do this on a layer by layer basis. Once I have the primary colors blocked in I then merge the colors layers and add details with the dodge and burn tools. This drawing was printed and mailed to my sweetie in Thunder Bay, Ontario:)

The Bumblebee

The BumblebeeThis is a sketch I did the other day while reflecting on when I had began working at the casino. When I began working at the casino we had two golf carts that were gas powered. One of the golf cars was a little smaller than the other one and the two were shared between the three shifts tending to put a lot of wear and tear on both of the vehicles. The smaller one was referred to as the ‘Bumblebee’ and was more reliable and little zippier than the larger golf cart which was a little larger and less reliable. The larger golf cart wasn’t nicknamed as tended to spend more time in the maintainence shop and thussed never nicknamed like its zippier cousin the Bumblebee.
The relatively new golf cart I sketched here is an electric powered. The three shifts now has their own carts they all have to be charged overnight. Even with each shift having their own cart the wear and tear on the carts has been considerable. I had my final fender bender in our new electric powered golf cart and no longer drive. I can now attribute any new damage to the 20 & 30 somethings in our shift.
