Yes We Cannabis!
October 22, 2009 by Ronald Hicks.
On Monday, October 12, 2009, President Barack Obama declared federal law enforcement would no longer prosecute medical marijuana users and the vendors in California and 12 other states that have statutes that regulate the use and distribution of medical marijuana. According to the President it was a waste of Federal resources to prosecute these individuals. The administration stated that this was not explicit legalization of marijuana and prosecution could still be pursued if there was any evidence of illegal trafficking or violence associated with the distribution and procurement of the medical marijuana.
Is the President using this tactic to soften up the opponents of the national healthcare ? Would the opponents of national healthcare view this as an act of compassion and change their views on national healthcare whether or not they are in favor of medical marijuana? Perhaps some of these opponents would see medical marijuana as a viable option if they were in a position to choose an alternative therapy besides the drugs offered by large pharmaceutical companies?
Although this tactic is not an explicit legalization of marijuana it may be a maneuver by the administration to position large pharmaceutical companies so they become more involved in medical marijuana and eventually control this process and reap bountiful profits not to mention huge tax revenues for the government.
Overall it is my belief that one should be suspicious of President Barack Obama’s directive and be on the lookout for an ulterior motive as they take their next toke and celebrate the soft decriminalization of medical marijuana.

T-shirt Tyranny
October 15, 2009 by Ronald Hicks.
According to the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States Congress shall be prohibited from infringing on free speech. This amendment has been tested many time over the years and recently in Harrisburg, PA. According to an article published in USA Today a fifth grade male student was called to the principal’s office and told to turn a t-shirt inside out that said, “Abortion is not healthcare”
Valerie Burch, an ACLU lawyer stated in the article, “Student-speech law has developed a lot … but one thing that is still plain and clear as day is that political speech like the T-shirt … is highly protected, even within schools.” When you dissect this sentence and look at the phrase: “political speech like the T-shirt … is highly protected, even within schools.” This phrase implies that there are different types of free speech that have varying degrees of protection under the First Amendment. This is simply not true. When you look at the phrase: “ even within schools.” again you have an example of free speech that is restricted to particular geographical boundaries. Free speech simply has no boundaries whether it is in the courthouse square, school, church, or your local tavern. Bounded free speech is simply malarkey. Free speech is simply anywhere that is practical to stand on your own two feet and open your mouth.

Achoo! The H1N1 Flu
October 9, 2009 by Ronald Hicks.
Besides taxing the U.S. public to death to pay the national debt, fight a nebulous global war against terrorists, bailing out fiscally irresponsible mega-banks, and finance a national government healthcare, our loving federal government is posing to inject or vaccinate us with a questionable and possibly deadly vaccine. Our slipshod care takers in the government are hacking together networks to distribute the vaccine that includes local Walmarts and community centers.
One of the problems with this particular vaccine is that because the WHO( World Health Organization ) has declared the H1N1 virus as a pandemic, thus allowing vaccine manufacturers to cut corners and limit or completely skip human trials. I find this disturbing since the U.S. has to follow the directive of a global organization when it comes to health and safety of it’s citizens. Are we citizens of the world or the U.S.? What happened to the stringent testing that our FDA required of vaccines and drugs?
Secondly, one of the problems with this mass immunization by the federal government is that there is four variations of the vaccine. Three of the four are injectable and one is nasal spray. This sounds like the human trials that were circumvented due to the WHO declaration of the swine flu being a pandemic. There is also a possibility of one or more of the vaccines may contain nanoparticles, according to the Center for Research on Globalization. Mercola.com has pointed out there are many other ingredients that are being used in this witches’ brew vaccine including squalene.
The U.S. public is under an enormous financial burden considering the wild spending spree the current administration has evoked. Are you willing to play Russian roulette with your health and well being and trust the mandates of the WHO?

1984 and The Daily News
October 1, 2009 by Ronald Hicks.
George Orwell’s novel 1984 foreshadows many of the events that are rapidly coming to pass in the present and near future.
Many of these events are rapidly sweeping through social and economic environments on a global scale. The world’s population is being incrementally fed enslavement and control as they exchange Liberty for the safety of shackles.
Another example of current events that closely parallel George Orwell novel is the United States constant war against terrorism. In the novel 1984 Goldstein was the face of terrorism that Big Brother and the Party constantly warred against. Goldstein was former compatriot of Big Brother just as Osama Bin Laden was a former compatriot of the United States that had turned traitor. Just as Goldstein was an elusive enemy that could never be captured or defeated so is Osama Bin Laden.
My third example of current events that parallel 1984 is the Internet lingo or acronyms that are used in chat rooms and message systems that are pervasive on the Internet. Acronym such as bbl and afaik ominously reflect the Newspeak in Orwell’s novel.
We also have the rendezvous between Julia and Winston where they constantly feared the surveillance of Big Brother. They were constantly changing their meeting places and were very careful of their words and actions. It is not too far-fetched to foresee such surveillance with modern satellite imagery and the constant miniaturization of electronic devices that can record, assimilate, and database any and all images and speech. There is also the pervasive deployment of Wi-Fi and other such distributive technologies that constantly shrink the size of our literal world.
Big Brother is watching and listening.
